OAKLAND, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement on the end of the legislative session.
Statement from Mary Creasman, Chief Executive Officer, California Environmental Voters:
“This years’ legislative session closes with some historic wins for California and the world. Most notably, SB 253, SB 261, SB 337, AB 3, AB 126, AB 421, and AB 1167, and others are putting California on a path to defending our progress and setting new global benchmarks for action.
While we celebrate the courage of our leaders in passing world-changing policy, it’s also against the backdrop of worsening pollution, extreme heat, catastrophic fires, drought, and flooding in communities across the state. It’s a frustrating truth for all of us that as exciting as some of these wins are, they are not enough.
We are energized by the progress made this legislative year and at the same time our state has big unfinished business on financing the clean energy and resilience transition needed to reach our goals and policies to protect communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis. We are ready to work with leaders in January to ensure every year as we get closer to our 2030 climate deadline is a year of bold policy action that takes care of families at home as well as creates a ripple effect globally.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
