We recently sent a list of recommendations to Governor Gavin Newsom urging necessary protections ensuring that all Californians who want to vote in November can do so easily and safely.
There are no quick fixes to the way COVID-19 will affect our election process. However, there are some common sense elements, which can be implemented to maintain the integrity of our election process and protect our democracy:
- Every registered voter should receive a mail-in ballot.
- Opportunities for safe in-person voting must be maintained for voters who need them.
- Accommodations for voters with disabilities and language access need to be prioritized.
- We must invest and expand public education and outreach to help voters understand any new changes to voting.
Read our full letter to Governor Newsom for our detailed recommendations.
In the coming weeks, Governor Newsom will be making decisions that will impact how California conducts the November general election. We need to do everything we can to make sure our election is safe and accessible for all of California’s voters.
So ahead of the November election, we want to ask you to do something important. We need you to join us in letting Governor Newsom know how important it is to you that he protects California’s election.
We must all work together to defend our democracy.
